Excellent book
I can't say enough good things about this book. As a beginner in food photography, this book was an essential tool for me. It's incredibly well-written and it is easy to follow & understand. After reading this book, I can already see a major improvement in my food photos. The book touches on every aspect and it's a pretty quick read. I got through the entire book in one night. Of course, I still reference to it when needed. If you're starting out in food photography, or even in other areas of photography, this book is a must. Five stars!

Author has s great writing style and good book for beginners.
This book is a great book for anyone wanting to know some basics about food photography. I am a blogger and had my eye on it for a while. When the book arrived, I was happy to start reading it and find out that the author has a great writing style full of humor and practicality. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was I was a bit disappointed it didn't go more in depth on some subjects. Over all, a good book.

Full of Ideas/Tips/Tricks and the Author Lets You Know It's OKAY to Make Mistakes
I wasn't sure about this book when I ordered it. Tons of information regarding food "blogging"/photography exists online. When this item came, I read it in one sitting.Matt (the author -- not me) does an excellent job not only providing examples/images and tips/tricks but making the amateur food photographer feel OKAY about not having the top of the line equipment. Or having a non-professional camera. Or making mistakes and needing to try again. He even admits he makes mistakes -- something I rarely see professional photographers cop to.I particularly love chapter 14: Difficult Foods to Photograph and What You Can Do About It.If you are starting to photograph food or, maybe, have been doing it awhile and just need some more ideas/tips/tricks, this is an excellent purchase.

Very Helpful Photography Guide for Beginners
I think this is a very helpful book for someone just starting to explore photography closer.I enjoyed the helpful notes and down-to-earth language its written in. The author didn't make me feel like I should run out to purchase the most expensive camera on the block, but rather taught to use what you already have. And one of the most important things: there is no shame in using the auto functions before you truly become comfortable and skilled.Strongly recommend this one! Might actually purchase this to have as a reference guide.

Decent book, physically flawed.
Purchased this for my mom, who is thinking of making a cookbook of her own recipes, to distribute to her family. I bought this book to give her ideas that will give her a little inspiration into what might be possible for photographing her recipes. The book seems fine for this purpose. However, it did come with multiple pages that were folded down, somewhere after binding and before cutting/trimming, so the pages can’t be unfolded or they overhang the rest of the book. Not a huge problem, but definitely mars the appearance and physical quality.
