Works perfectly, and worth every penny. Accurate and makes it easy to trace/detect wires and network cables. Can use with a third party tone generator as well! I used it to trace wires back to a patch panel.

I didn't know this tool existed. I saw a video on Youtube when trying to find out why one of my plugs wasn't getting power. I was so frustrated i was about to start carving holes in my walls to figure the problem. This tool lead me right to the problem. A plug in a diffrent room was wired poorly and i was able to fix it in minutes! What a life saver! Works well:It gives off a strong signle even when your far away from the plug so it's very easy to track down the problem

I recently had the chance to test out the Klein Tools VDV500-820 Wire Tracer, and I’m really impressed with its performance. If you’re working in electrical or telecom troubleshooting, this tool is a real lifesaver.

I removed a shed from our yard and somehow the electric wire got buried when the land was resurfaced.We had a switch for the shed wire so we simply turned it off. However, we later wanted to use the electric at our dock so we needed to find the end of the wire. The Tracer tone allowed me to find the wire and follow it from the entry point to the "dead end." It had been several years since the shed had been removed and I didn't know within 15' where the wire would be - nor at what depth. This tracer allowed me to locate the location and when I dug 18" down, I found the wire end. Little mess and, if I hadn't upset an inground wasp nest, it would have been a very simple process!

The media could not be loaded. Excellent device for tracing cable or verifying a cable path. Built to stand heavy duty use with rubber grips on sender and receiver. Unshielded cable environments can make cable tracing challenging. Tone changes when line is shorted which is very helpful.
