There's Something in My Attic

The author is my step-brother and his books have been on the market for DECADES! I bought these books for my Grandson who was thrilled to go through them numerous times.

Was happy to find a comparable story to There's An Alligator Under My Bed w a girl character! Both books will be gifted on Halloween to a girl and a boy.

Add There’s a Nightmare in My Closet and There’s an Alligator Under My Bed and you have spooky fun for preschoolers. I enjoyed making unit activities and games themed around these books for my preschool classes. So much fun to learn with them.

I used to teach 2 year olds and this book was one of their favorites. Yes 2 year olds! Even though some children were a bit frightened of it they still loved it and wanted us to read it again and again. We used the book to talk about real and pretend and dreams. It was especially helpful around Halloween when the kids saw scary "monsters" on porches and in yards.I love how the little girl gets herself prepared to face the "something"(down to the cute cowgirl outfit over her pj's). I also like that her parent's try to give a plausible explination of what may be in the attic rather then telling her she's wrong about hearing things. I love how brave the little girl is and how she faces her fears and stands up to the "something" ... although it looks too scared of her to be much of a threat.Great story.

Mercer Mayer strikes gold again! I don't know in what order this series of books was issued, but I was pleased to find a young lady as the focus of the story. Have loved all the "There's a ...." in my attic, closet or under the bed. Helpful for young children who may be afraid of the dark. A great jumping off place for a discussion about what is, and isn't, fearful in the nighttime. Illustrations are typically excellent.

Once again a really good story for young children that may be a bit frightened by going to bed at night. All of us can relate at some time of being frightened at night. It's that feeling that there's something out there, just waiting for you to close your eyes. But Mercer Mayer helps to instill confidence in young children by allowing them the chance to be big and brave.

My 3yo is obsessed with this series. He has the books memorized and can “read” them to you, word for word, with sound effects. Classics. Would recommend.
