A secret mission and it's consequences.

Silas is called away from a visit to Liparia to take on a rescue mission deep in Germania. His friend Atius leading a diplomatic party has been captured. Silas has the help of an Alammani guide Odo to rescue him. What happens will deeply affect Silas and change him forever. Easy five star read.

Great book

The occasional proof reading error doesn’t detract from an easy to read book with an excellent story line. I’m looking forward to the fifth book in this series

A good read

A good read from start to finish.

Our Hero is being drawn ever nearer the centre of power. Can he survive?

This is the fourth part of the story of the half British half Roman border scout who was quite happy, as happy as your average soldier ever is, to just do his job. Sometimes showing initiative is a really bad thing to do and sometimes the consequences just keep snapping at your heels.

Not bad

Not as good as the previius books in the series. Still enjoyable and good to reac. Hopefully next book returns to form

another great book

Complete plot twists. This book had my own guts clenched while every page sunk into my eyes. I was really worried for Atius but I am glad to see the ending I wanted. I seriously hope this becomes a Netflix show. But seriously someone give Atius and Silus a hug

Another winner from what rapidly becomes on my very all time fave series of this or any other genre.

Onwards with the action, onwards with the dramatic twists in the plots, and ever onwards with the urge to keep turning the pages.

Imperial Assassin Atius goes missing. Fellow assassin and friend Silus is sent to find him.

The 4th book in the Series is as exciting as its predecessors. Serving in the Arcani, a Secret organization of assassins who answer solely to the Emperor, Atius and Silus are once again in mortal danger. An excellent tale of espionage, politics, loyalty and friendship. A worthwhile read and hoping there are more coming.

excellent addition

BLURBOn the Empire's Northern border trouble is stirring. For decades the barbarians have been at the gates. Now, facing threats from within as well as outside, the Emperor is provoking war. When his friend Atius goes missing in Germania, Imperial Assassin Silus is sent into the heart of the battle-torn region.Plunged into a deadly intrigue and a brutal conflict, can Silus find out who is betraying Rome? Or will the legions start falling, one by bloody one?REVIEWUlterior motives in the guise of friendship and alliance is the crux of the problem Silus faces in this drama filled episode. A compelling page turner that finds the bonds of trust, loyalty, and friendship strained to their limits. It is an exciting tale pitting the legacy hunting Caracalla against any and all barbarians, and he'll do anything to come out victorious, and that has Silus and Atius at odds with each other, let alone at odds with Rome's motives.

My favorite of The Imperial Assassin series!

The Emperor's Spear is my favorite from this series and my second favorite Alex Gough book since Bandits Of Rome from his Carbo novels. The Emperor's Spear takes us on a journey that's quite honestly hard to put down. I kept sneaking back at every opportunity to find out what was going to happen next. I'm definitely going to be pretty tired today due to staying up later than I should to finish. Highly recommended!

Roma Victor

See this historic fiction of t ihe Roman war against germanic tribes through the eyes of a centurian spy. It is rather tragic, that there are losers for every victor.
