There are quite a few jar top removers for sale. I have a injured hand and arthritis, so my grip of the past is not there. Other top removers have some flaws making them unusable in several situations. They require a wide hand stretch to grip the device and often, slip off of smaller plastic top, as in 2 liters. This design offers a short grip space and excellent adjustment slide rachet type. I have one in my camping bag and home as well as the car. The size is narrow and does not take up much room. I would recommend this product and the price is great.

This device in photographs and in general concept is convincing: finally a tool which allows a person to solidly grip a lid and twist it off. This year I purchased this and a different kind of tool and both failed miserably to do what was expected. I should have paid greater attention to the size and some of the details and maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't have wasted my money on this.The jar grip. This is a toothed rim which may work to bite into a plastic jar lid of a certain size. I am not completely sure what it is meant to work with. All I know is that it won't grip any lid I work with. What I thought I saw was a grip made of rubber of great enough width that when compressed against a circular lid on both sides would hang on while the lid was loosened. It is not there. The grip is useless.The lock. This is handle that looks like it locks down and keeps the grip tight while you then move the overall device anti-clockwise (or to the left). This doesn't lock anything. It engages with a toothed surface but does not stay engaged. You can't keep pushing this down to keep the grip while also attempting to rotate the entire device. Instead I was expecting more of a vice-grip sort of approach that allows the grip to be tightened and locked in place. That is what I thought I saw in the pictures. It is not so in reality.The length. I really wanted this for lids which have a diameter of more than a few inches. They are tough to loosen. You need the length to be at least twice the expected maximum jar diameter to get the leverage needed to twist off the lid. The key element to making this dislodge difficult seals is the leverage. This device is too small to accomodate anything but the smallest lids.In short, this device was meant to look like something that should work and fails miserably.

This works but takes a little finagling to get it just right. The handle that you squeeze in to activate the jar opening action seems a little too short, or the teeth that it fits into might be off a bit- something about it just doesn't work smoothly. Having said that, with the finagling you can get it to pop the jar seal.Part of the finagling is that it doesn't grip the lid real strong, so the few times I tried using this to turn the jar lid it slid along before it caught.I thought about returning it but decided it still does the job- it squeezes the lid and breaks the seal. Then take it off and turn the lid to finish the job.I am still curious if another brand of this product might work better ??

This can/jar opener is wonderful. So easy to use and store. I'd been using an adjustable wrench for years! Size is perfect, and extremely durable.

Difficult to manipulate/position and grab onto a small plastic bottle cap. And so, I’m returning it because it doesn’t meet my needs

It is the best bottle opener yet! I have tried so many and they all disappointed. This one is the best for all size jars. Very simple, yet effective design. I no longer have to take a nap after trying to open a jar😉. Great gift for weaklings. I don’t have to ask my kids to open a jar for me.
