Much, much brighter. All lumens are focused downward. That said, if the led was as long as the original fluorescent 150 watt EQ, it would throw out more lumens and I would be even happier.However, this is the max lumen substitute yet available.I see this as an industry problem, not a company problem, and not just in this instance. BS marketing for cheap electricity has us living within fewer lumens than we had before. As we get older we need more lumens not less.6000k for a given LED watt will generally provide more lumens than a 2700k LED, but the 6000k indoors is a harsh bright spot if not somehow toned down with a frosted lens that will reduce lumens.Bottom line - do not hesitate to replace the fluorescent with this led, but be sure to bypass the ballast. 2 minutes from underneath the cover that drops down and out easily.

First of all, pay attention to their instructions. You must bypass the ballast, which I did and it works great. I originally went with the 3000k, but it was too yellow compared to the Panasonic 3500k CFL in color and then I got the 5000k and is perfect. We like leaving it on 24/7 as it is a dark bathroom with no windows. It was fun to upgrade and next I will paint the housing as it has yellowed over time. I hope painting it gloss white will brighten it a little more. Thank you for making this bulb as it should be cheaper to operate and easy to replace in the future. Update: This is our 4th bulb that we only use in one bathroom since 2017. I did get this company to replace one bulb in the past and we appreciate that, but do the math, there is a problem. The last bulb we used less than 6 months and we tried very hard not to use it. There was definitely not 30,00 hours on it and really, are they going to replace every bulb we buy from them? As, I see it i'll probably try replacing every other one under warranty, if they keep failing prematurely like this. Maybe, I shouldn't have converted it from the CFL to this led, but maybe they've improved the quality and I'll cross my fingers.

These LED's are beautiful; very bright, nice "soft white" color. Love that aspect of them. It's cool that the head can be turned to direct the light in a particular direction.The downside (and the reason for 4 stars vs 5) is that in order for them to work in a typical quad-pin CFL replacement application, the ballast has to be removed/bypassed AND the center "post" at the base needs to be shortened to fit in the socket. I am able to do that, as most electricians would. The average buyer might have some difficulty, as evidenced by some of the reviews. The maker would do well to provide more clear instructions with the product; it is good that they have put a note about the ballast on the listing to help prevent "nasty surprises." I really don't understand the center post length issue; one would think the base type would define that as a standard. There must be some variability in sockets.

I have a ceiling mount fixture in my kitchen that originally had CFL lamps, which had to be changed far too frequently. So when the ballast died, I started looking for an LED fixture. I never found one that had the look I wanted, so decided to give this LED replacement lamp a chance. There are two keys to a successful implementation: 1) make sure you know the designation of the lamp you are replacing so you get the corresponding LED lamp. Mine was the G24Q. 2) remove the ballast from service and wire the lamp connectors to AC. Mine is a two lamp fixture and each connector had two wires coming from the ballast. I re-purposed the wires by cutting them off of the ballast. I also cut the power supply wires and then connected the hot lead to one side of the bulb connectors and the neutral side to the other side. I removed the ballast from the fixture, though I could have left it in place.The light quality is high and without flicker. It's only been in a week, but so far it is a great replacement.

Since this IS an LED bulb, you would think that it would last many years! Most LED bulbs I have seen (and I have converted my entire house to LEDs) boast around a 22 year life span with limited use.This one (I have three of these) failed after just TWO YEARS of use! That is a LOT less than I expected!Halo only gives a one year warranty, so they are off the hook.That said...it could be just a fluke, as my other two are working great. So, I am going to buy another one of these and hope it lasts many years.I bought these two years ago when there weren't many others to choose from with a G24 base that was no-ballast and 5000k. I am sure the field must be open more by now and will look around later.Anyhow, I just wanted to share this experience. Maybe HERO-LED is listening!

This replaced a Phillips PL-C 13W/827/4P (4-pin) florescent bulb in a Newtone bath fan/light combo.I simply cut the black/white and red/blue wires close to the ballast and used wire nuts to connect, keeping the pairs of blue and red wires together. .The plastic base was about 1/4 inch too long and would not seat in the socket. I cut it down with a hack saw and it snapped right in.A little work for a big improvement in light level.

Used this bulb to convert a Panasonic WhisperLite Bathroom ceiling fan from a FHT32E35 CFL bulb to an LED light. The one consideration is that you need to bypass the ballast - that is, to cut the wires to the ballast, remove it, and reconnect the wires. It's pretty easy. There's a good video on how to do this on a popular video hosting website. The video also suggested drilling holes in the plastic bulb enclosure so that it would run cooler.I wanted a warmer light, that turns on instantly, and doesn't have CFL mercury. This works amazingly, and I'm very satisfied. Yea, I paid full price for this at Amazon.
