Make sure you have the strip inserted the correct way and all the way snapped down
Easy 5 second countdown for the reading. If you get "err" message do not lance your finger. The battery made be on the way out, and you waste a strip. I prefer this over the Bayer one or the Contour one. The only issue is you only get 25 strips in a container. The cost is higher too at that rate. If you can find the GE lancing device , get it. The cheap Bayer one or Contour one is a little difficult to use. I would pay more for the GE one. Easy to insert and remove the lancet and just pull the handle back and lance your middle finger. After my reading I immediately hold the button down to save the battery. Bought a ten pack of SONY here on CR 2032 ( I think) Have to check the number already in the meter and search Amazon for a pack of ten. Fixed my meter, scale and one other device. I leave the "Old Coin "battery in place so you are sure to get the correct battery number. I keep the remaining seven in a white labeled business envelope with other supplies for testing.

Go old school instead!
Shoulda known better. I assumed it was a self contained all in one system. But you need to buy test strips SEPARATELY since not even a starter set is included. When I purchased this, it looked like the test strip had a built in finger pricker….NOT! You still have to use the old style Lancelot pricker, so why not just buy an old style test kit instead, makes more sense.

For first time users - best buy !!! Economically perfect !!! Accurate and reliable!!!
Ok ... It's not easy to comment about the product which is very important for your health, though I bought this product for my wife .... Just wanted to keep an eye of her blood sugar levels, before selecting the product I have done some research online about other available products in the market. The search criteria -1. The product should be reliable2. It should be economical3. Easier to find - online or over the counter (OTC)4. The test strips are not too expensive5. Easy to useSo far if you go with these kind of search criteria you will hardly find any specific product online which has all the qualities you need, but after care full analysis I find this product very much close what I need. The only problem I had with this is that it's not easily available OTC. But that is ok with me,now I know this thing so I keep a track of my stock and I order before my stock gets low. I prefer purchase online and now I buy frequently through Amazon.Yes one more thing earlier we had accu check so we use the lancets of accu check, but test strips and glucose meter is GE100.Final comment- yes I am very happy with is product and its readings ( very accurate)Suggestion - those who are new to try a glucose meter can buy this product and this will help you to track your blood sugar levels.

Five Star Home Use Meter
This was an upgrade from a prehistoric Accu-Chek Advantage.. Remember them? Draw a pint of blood, pour it into a test strip and in an hourand a half you'd get a fairly close approximation. This is a completely new ballgame. My lancet goes in half measures from .5 to 5.5, I have isset on 2.0, a big decrease from 3.5. I feel absolutely no pain when I use it. Too, a very small sample of blood is required. . AND I get results in5 seconds. I've tested it against glucose monitors at a doctor's office and at a VA clinic. It measured within 5 points at one clinic and3 points at the other. There may be better meters, but I have no knowledge of them and am more than happy I took the giant leap into themodern world with this one. . And BTW I find the test strips very affordable. If one shops around he should be able to buy 50 test strips for just abit over $8.00 That's as of 22 Jan 2016. I should know, I just ordered 100. BTW, I DID NOT receive this as a free product to evaluate. I boughtoutright and have used it for several weeks before writing this review. Hope this helps someone.
