This little item works great but it has a small caveat if you want its full functionality.
This little item works great, but it has a small caveat if you want its full functionality. As OBDII scanners go, this one does the job at a fraction of the price of a professional scanner. It shows all the information on the screen in an easy to set up software with an intuitive menu. Easy for even the least mechanically inclined people to use. However, you'll need a separate iPhone, iPad, or Android device to install the app onto.It color codes the issues as to their importance. Green means you should be fine and it's more of a suggestion than an issue, Yellow means check it out soon or have a mechanic take a look, Red means you should probably stop driving your car and set it on fire. Just kidding. But the information is displayed fully with the OBDII codes along with the explanations as to what they are. In my case, there was a Stored Code and a few Pending Codes. The Stored Code defined what the code is, however the Pending Codes showed 'Unknown Issue'. I had to go online later to look them up. There's also an option to clear the dash lights that did not work for me. So does the scanner work? Definitely. Is it worth it? Probably not, and here's why.The caveat I mentioned? You have to purchase their Premium version at a yearly fee of $99.00 if you want to unlock the scanner's full potential. It includes;"Cost and repair estimates from the Identifix database, Unlimited calls to our FIXD Mechanic Hotline for a trusted second opinion and DIY help from our network of ASE certified mechanics, And much more! FIXD Premium is a monthly subscription that is optional and is not required for use of the sensor."After the purchase price of $37, that makes this little bugger $137 right off the bat, with an additional $99/year after that. However, they do let you try it free for one week (cancel at any time). If you're using this scanner for multiple vehicles, and you're getting paid for it, then you might find the fee not so much of an inconvenience. However, if you're like me and are only using it on your daily driver, how often do you think you're going to use it to qualify that fee? I used it this once, found the codes, and now it'll probably sit on a shelf until the next time the need arises for it. And since I'm mechanically inclined, I can resolve the issues on my own. But, again, "the subscription is optional and is not required for use of the sensor."If you want a scanner that offers more functionality with no extra costs involved then purchase one of those instead. But if you're an average Joe or Jolene and you just want to see why your car has those dash lights always on, then this little guy does the job just fine.

FIXD saved me from making a couple thousand dollar mistake.
Oh man. What a fabulous product! I went last night to a Toyota dealership to buy a used Toyota vehicle. I took it for a spin, the outside and interior has normal wear but it’s what couldn’t be seen that could’ve really caused me problems down the road. I plugged in my FIXD sensor to the vehicle and it said there was a P1570 code. I was skeptical of the FIXD device ant first since there was no check engine light on. After reading through what that code meant, it had to do with the front collision sensors not working. I decided to, with the sales rep, slowly pull up close to a parked car at an angle so the sensor was directly pointing at the car. No sounds, no warning lights….. nothing! The sales rep had the service manager try to get it to work and couldn’t. He tried to play it off as a fault with the FIXD device and it had to do with corrosion on the key instead of what FIXD said it was which was $2000 in parts and labor.FIXD, thank you. Your device has paid for itself many times over with not only finding the problem but providing a clear explanation of the issue and an estimated cost for repairs based on my zip code. So great!!

FIXD OB2 diagnostic scanner was wasy setup and works, but will nag you everyday to upgrade!
FIXD OB2 diagnostic device was quick and easy attachment to the car port, then app download and installation. Worked fine as advertised. Beware that FIXD company will relentlessly hound you, everyday, to pay for app upgrade.. Also, FIXD app software only shows those repair shops that are "sponsored," not the dealership where my repairs get done per warranty. That is why I give FIXD a rating of 4, instead of 5.

Great little quick engine code reader writen out in plain english
Bought this in 2019, still works. Ended up upgrading later on down the road but gave this one to my mom since it's super simple and writes everything out in plain english and how severe the problem is in case she ever needs it. It doesn't scan EVERY SINGLE MODULE in your car like seatbelt modules, airbag modules, etc... but it will turn a "Oh geez, what's wrong? Can I still drive this car for a day or two?" Into a ah okay that's what's wrong with you right on the spot instead of trying to make time to go get the codes read.
